York Region

From the trailhead to the phone.

When pl.ural developed signage design and placement guidelines for the York Regional Forest, Neumarkets joined as the digital sub-consultant, researching the digital tools visitors use to plan trips and find their way on the trails.

[ The forest ]

Finding the way
in a forest.

The Region’s forest management plan calls for a better visitor experience, including a trails strategy to support wayfinding.

Visitors need to find their way across 23 public tracts and more than 2,600 hectares, in places where cell service can be unreliable.

[ What we looked at · 06 ]

Before, at and
after the trailhead.

Our research followed a visit from planning at home to finding the way back to the car.

[ Our approach ]

Signs and screens should point visitors the same way.

Good wayfinding works before a visit, at the trailhead and out on the trail, on paper and on a phone.

[ More wayfinding ]

More municipal
work.
