[ The project ]

Every way a
visitor finds out.

Highway sign costs had risen sharply, and tourism operators were split: some said visitors now navigate by GPS and Google Maps, others that they still rely on signs.

So the Municipality defined wayfinding broadly: every way visitors learn about tourism experiences when they arrive and as they move around, from visitor centres, signs, print and maps to digital content and apps.

What the
Municipality asked.

Chatham-Kent’s request for proposals set out the digital ground the strategy had to cover.

[ Our part ]

The digital
specialist.

Mellor Murray Consulting led the consulting team, with Stempski Kelly Associates. We were the digital specialist and led the digital and web analysis.

We reviewed the background documents, interviewed staff, researched new and emerging wayfinding and visitor-information tools, and assessed the tourism website and digital channels.

We then wrote the digital sections of the strategy and advised on the digital parts of the implementation plan.
